'Take Off' takes Malayalam cinema to new heights at IFFI 2017

Mahesh Narayanan's directorial debut Take Off, the only Malayalam feature film screened at the 48th International Film Festival of India (IFFI), has made it big at the festival, winning two major awards.

The survival thriller, narrating the tale of a Keralite nurses' struggles in war-torn Iraq, won the Special Jury Award while its lead actress Parvathy Thiruvoth Kottuvata won the Silver Peacock for the Best Actress. Click here for the full coverage

Bitcoin breaks $10,000 barrier

Do you know what bitcoin is? It is a kind of virtual currency. Bitcoin broke through the $10,000 barrier for the first time on Wednesday as it continues a stratospheric rise that has delighted investors but sparked fears of a bubble.

The virtual currency hit a high of $10,379 in Asia, according to Bloomberg News, more than 10 times higher than its value at the start of the year. The breakthrough is the latest in a spectacular run for the online money dubbed 'digital gold' by its advocates, which began life in 2009 as a bit of encrypted software supposedly written by an unknown coder with a Japanese-sounding name. Britain's prince Harry to marry US actress Meghan Markle

Britain's prince Harry is engaged to his US actress girlfriend Meghan Markle with the marriage due to take place in the spring of 2018, his father prince Charles announced in a statement on Monday.

Harry, 33, currently fifth-in-line to the British throne, and Markle, 36, best known for her role in the US TV legal drama "Suits", became engaged earlier this month, the statement issued by Clarence House said. Click here to read more
