Kochi: The Kerala police team probing the actress attack case is likely to name Appunni, manager of actor Dileep, as one of the accused in the case.
The police wanted to question Dileep, second accused, in the presence of Appunni, but the actor's manager is yet to respond to the police summons. He has been absconding since Dileep’s arrest.
The police have been trying to reach out to Appunni on five phone numbers, but all of them have been switched off. The remand report mentions Appunni's role in the February 17 attack case.
Appunni is believed to be one of the main links between Dileep and main accused Pulsar Suni. Dileep had filed a complaint to the police, stating that a person who claimed to be Suni's friend called up director Nadhirshah and Appunni and blackmailed them.
The police had also found evidence to prove that Suni had called to Nadhirshah's and Appunni's phones from the jail. Also, that these calls were returned.
The heinous crime, which took place in February, hogged the headlines recently again after a letter purportedly written by or at the behest of Suni to Dileep came out through media reports.
Suni eventually led the investigators to Dileep, who is suspected to have planned the attack on the actress to settle scores. The duo allegedly started plotting the attack as early as 2013.
Nadhirshah to be quizzed?
The police team is likely to question Nadhirshah, a close friend of Dileep, again. Earlier the director and Dileep were questioned for 13 hours at Aluva police club. The police had reportedly gained crucial information from the questioning session.
